Adventure Time with Julie and Jean

On Saturday January 22, Jean received a text from Julie inquiring if she would like to accompany Julie on a Philadelphia adventure. Of course Jean said yes, and off they went to Cecil B. Moore station to hitch a ride on a train to center city. Once on the train they duo encountered a man who was hustling a bunch of people on the train. It got to the point where a woman who was having a grand old time, asked the hustler "What would happen if I put down $200?".  Obviously he's very good at what he does. Julie and Jean got off at city hall and proceeded to navigate the rancid smelling labyrinth that is the subway system of Philadelphia to get to Reading Terminal Market. The sights and smells ranged from luscious and tantalizing to an assault of your sense of smell. One such assault occurred when Jean walked by a fish stand that was across from a coffee stand. She found out that the combination of smells does not mix well, at all. Other such things that they experienced were a plethora of colorful fruits and veggies, people, cultures and so much more! Once done with Reading Terminal market, Jean attempted to navigate both herself and Julie to South Street to investigate antique shops found there. Unfortunately, Jean lost Broad street a couple times, but with the help a signs and the subway they found South street! Along the way to South Street the duo picked up a third member, a student from UArts whom Jean has known since 7th grade. The antique shops ranged from up tight shop keepers, to the owners handing out fruit to their costumers. After the trio ate at Johnny Rockets, to which Julie had never eaten at. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. By this time it was late at night and frigid cold, so the trio decided to head back to Jean's dorm to watch Chicken Run in her room.

You maybe thinking that is the end of their Philadelphia adventure, but it's not. Having been raised in a white suburbia town, living everyday this semester in North Philadelphia, in my opinion, is an adventure.
